I don't think winamp can act as a SOURCE (not a client) on android ?

no, unfortunately. i'm searching too.
live broadcasting from mobile sources would be nice. only the mics in
android devices are usually bad (compared with the iphone, which has a
decent sounding 44kh/16bit resolution). --u

I guess porting libshout to android is sufficient to resolve the problem ?

We solve temporary by using the 3G connection with USB from the
android phone on an Ubuntu PC with darkice/darksnow

i think so, but don't know much about the android internals (i'm using a
lazy framework for developing, so i'm not an android/java native...)

sure, that's the way to go for now. i'm using an old laptop, a zoom h2
in sound card mode and 3G phone connected by bluetooth. i'd be glad to
replace that with my fon... --u

should be reasonably easy to just compile ices2 and dependencies for either
an underlying muclibc userland or bionic.
Then you just need to gain access to the alsa input device and you're done.

Nobody said anything about this necessarily being a GUI,
user-frienldy application, right?

I don't have an Android phone, but if I did, I would look for a VLC
port, or a try a Java source client like JRoar.
It would be interesting to find out if either of these work!

Hi all ,

Just wondering if any Android icecast source is on the Way.

the point is that I build a mobile Icecast source with 3G. My choices are :

- Buy a X86 netbook with Ubuntu with 8 hours streaming

- Buy a GalaxyTab 7 inches ( same price ) on Android

Try "XIIALive Lite", it works perfectly for my Icecast/Vorbis stream.
The 'lite' version is free and works fine (ad supported).

He's asking for a SOURCE client, not a _listener_ client.

I don't think such a thing exists at the moment.

I just finished compiling an android version of our reshaped shine
encoder [1] there:
http://rastageeks.org/~toots/shine-android.tar.gz

In order to use it, you'll need to make /system read-write and copy
lib/libshine.so.1.0.0 to /system/lib/libshine.so.1 and bin/shineenc to
/system/bin.

On my low-end HTC, however, encoding is not real-time, which is a bit
disappointing:
$ shineenc bla.wav bla.mp3
shineenc (Liquidsoap version)
WAV PCM DATA, stereo 44100Hz 16bit, Length: 0: 0:18
MPEG-I layer III, stereo Psychoacoustic Model: Shine
Bitrate=128 kbps De-emphasis: none Original
Encoding "bla.wav" to "bla.mp3"
Finished in 0: 0:20

If anyone else feels like testing on another ARM android phone, I'll
be interested to know if the encoder may be used to encode to mp3 in
real time...

It works much better with a beefier android device (HTC One V):

***@android:/data/shine $ shineenc ./bla.wav ./bla.mp3
shineenc (Liquidsoap version)
WAV PCM DATA, stereo 44100Hz 16bit, Length: 0: 3:36
MPEG-I layer III, stereo Psychoacoustic Model: Shine
Bitrate=128 kbps De-emphasis: none Original
Encoding "./bla.wav" to "./bla.mp3"
Finished in 0: 0:40

:-)

The library could thus be used to build a real-time mp3 client that
streams from the microphone to an icecast server!

I do not think I'll personally take this project on me but feel free
to hit us at savonet-***@lists.sourceforge.net if anyone's
interested!

Here I leave some source client android for Icecast.

There is one that works with mp3, one that works with OGG Vorbis and one more that works with Theora, I've only tried the MP3 and Ogg Vorbis, and have certain limitations but work well.

Greetings.

Saludos.
